Analysis of front covers

This is mini world magazine it is a car magazine which focuses only on the mini. The front cover is largely dominated by an image of a mini which is conventional for a specific magazine to have an image relationg to the magazine. At the top of the front cover is the name of the magazine mini wold its not a logo as such its just a straight forwards name. Below the main inage there are three others that all are images of minis.

This image here is of Noel Gallager on the front of the New Musical Express magazine better known as NME. NME is a very well respected and established music magazine as you can tell by the fact they have Noel Gallager a guitarist of one of the biggest bands in the world OASIS on their cover.Noel is holding up a cup of tea and a saucer which suggests the very English rock band nature of the magazine .The lay out of the front cover has nothing to fancy about it, it's just straight forward and kind of in your face, like the magazine itself.The masthead is slightly covered by Noels head but this doesn't matter as NMEs logo is a well recognised one.

Besides the main story in the middle there are only three other articles previewed which is unusual for a magazine as most magazine covers are plastered with links to inside stories, I think NME may have done this to create a minimalist look. NME has a much younger audience than other music magazines such as Q magazine or Total guitar, this has much to do with the articles the magazine publishes that are aimed more at younger music such as Indie and electro pop.

Analysis of SECONDARY magazine for teachers

This is Secondary magazine it is a magazine for teachers.The front cover depicts Someone wearing oven gloves holding a backing tray, on the baking tray there are two ginger bread men.The person holding the tray has a shirt and tie with trousers wich makes think its ether a teacher or a student.

The magazine covers many different things but all in all its about how teachers can give thier pupils a better future by making lessons fun and easy to pick up.

Foundation Portfolio - Perliminary Task

The task set is to create a college magazine/newspaper front cover and a contents page.The magazine/newspaper i am going to make will be targeted at the students at Wyke and will focus on music events at the college.Below there are five different aspects of which my magazine will cover:Language, Institution, Ideology, Audience and Representation.The firs letter of each is used to spell the word LIIAR.


Language - The language in the magazine should be up to date and modern as it will be read by young people.I aim to create a very clean cut look with pictures relating to my articles also I would like to have a strong colour scheme.

Institution - The magazine is to be produced by the college and would be read by people in the college as the articles will relate to the college.

Ideology - My front page will be free from bad language and will be equal to all so that it is suitable for everyone to read.

Audience - The audience I will be producing the magazine for will be students at Wyke who are from around the ages of sixteen to nineteen.My articles will have to be about things most people can relate to.

Representation - The magazine will represent the college and things that are connected to the college.I would like to focus on a theme of music at Wyke.
